GALA OPENING NIGHT   5.00 PM, 10 APRIL 2015, with entertainment, food and wine, and a great party atmosphere.

‘Sculpture on the Greens’ subscribes to the belief that Art should be considered an opportunity for expression, rather than a subjective competition.

NEWS ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Up to 70 outdoor entries will be selected for the Exhibition in 2015. Opportunities will be available, by negotiation, to exhibit some small inside works, AND in several Local Galleries in conjunction with this exhibition.  The Exhibition is quickly gaining a reputation for its high caliber and egalitarian vision, pointing towards an interesting, contemporary exhibition, with a diverse and eclectic range of sculptures assembled for the exhibition.

FIVE $2000 INCENTIVE AWARDS

The exhibition is not a competition, as art is a subjective and personal expression of ones passion. With this in mind, five high profile Sculptors, from different backgrounds, will recommend one of the five major INCENTIVE AWARDS. The adjudicators will not know who else is recommending the other AWARDS and can only make their ONE preferences known. This will level the playing field and reduce subjectivity, giving all styles of sculpture a chance to be awarded an INCENTIVE AWARD.

Other ‘In Kind’ Incentives will be given to outstanding works on the opening night.

STIPENDS TO ASSIST INTERSTATE SCULPTORS

All exhibiting artists will be given a chance to apply for a TRAVEL STIPEND, to help with costs involved in exhibiting. It is hoped that groups of Sculptors from interstate or regional areas in NSW, will find ways to travel and install, as a group, by applying for the TRAVEL STIPEND, reducing their costs and reinforcing networking groups in their areas.

ABOUT SCULPTURE ON THE GREENS

This egalitarian model with 40 years of history was RE-introduced in 2013 under the Directorship of Col Henry and his enthusiastic team, as a completely new identity known as ‘Sculpture on the Greens’ Inc.

In 2014, two overseas Sculptors exhibited their works, with many highly professional, local and interstate Sculptors, raising the standard and introducing a vast variety of fantastic works able to withstand two months in an outdoor environment.

MENTORSHIPS

This year four mentorship programs have been funded for local emerging sculptors, with over 20 weeks of tuition and development, which will culminate in interesting, contemporary and fresh new works. These works will be exhibited along side the other professional Sculptors in the exhibition. Limited Mentoring is also available to Exhibiting Sculptors if required.

WHAT’S ON

During the event, other exhibitions – eg BobbyP Fine Art Gallery in Wyong -, and opportunities will be offered under the umbrella of Sculpture on the Greens.  INCLUDING AN OPPORTUNITY FOR 4 SCULPTORS TO EXHIBIT IN THE FORECOURT OF A MAJOR WESTFIELD CENTRE FOR 2 to 3 MONTHS.

Please  contact us if you would like to be involved

VOLUNTEERS and SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Call us if you would like to sponsor the event in any way.

We are looking for volunteers, who are interested in helping with the event, and becoming one of the ‘family’. If you have a special skill, or just enjoy meeting interesting and new people, join the team by contacting us.

An event like this needs many layers of expertise, and we are very interested in involving exhibiting Sculptors, and the local community to create an egalitarian exhibition that put the exhibiting Artist first.
